Liberia has been thrown into another round of battle to savage
the return of the dreaded Ebola Virus Disease just two months
after World Health Origination (WHO) declared the country free
of the virus.
The new case of Ebola was made known by the Liberian health
minister, Bernice Dahn on Friday, November 20.
Dahn said that this new case has become a setback to put an
end the epidemic that had killed about 11,300 people, The
Nation reports.
The health minister disclosed that the new victim is a 10-year
boy who resides with his parents and siblings in suburb town
of Paynesville of Monrovia, the capital city.
She said that all family members of the victim, as well of other
high risk contacts, were being taken care of at an Ebola
Treatment unit in Paynesville.
Dahn further stated that the hospital where this case was being
discovered is currently being decontaminated and health
workers who came in contact with the patient had been
contacted.
“ We know how Ebola spreads and we know how to stop Ebola but
we must remain vigilant and work together,” she explained.
The WHO statistics showed that about 4,808 persons had died
of the virus with more than 10,600 cases of the deceases
recorded when the first case of the virus was recorded in
March 2014.
