MY MAMA IS A YEAR OLDER TODAY. HURRAY!!!

Dear mama, I choose to celebrate you today, not just of what you are to me and my siblings, in as much as that's one blessing in my life that I keep appreciating nature for, non the less, it is what you are to humanity that I celebrate you for today.

The world might not know you as much as your greatness deserves but then it's not surprising cos good news don't sell much. But today, I extol you cos you are worth more than riches to me. You are a priceless jewel. Your impeccable parenting skill has raised 5 young men and a daughter whose values to the world are innumerable.

I could go on and on and on, but make I stop here.

Far beyond the end of the road was a mountain range, and at that time of evening it flattened into a matte indigo wash, like a mural. Rejection may be universal, but as plots go, it’s second-rate—all buildup and no closure, an inherent letdown. Stories are usually defined by progress: the development of events toward their conclusions, characters toward their fates, questions toward understanding, themes toward fulfillment. But unlike marriage, murder, and war, rejection offers no obstacles to surmount, milestones to mark, rituals to observe. If a plot point is a shift in a state of affairs—the meeting of a long-lost twin, the fateful red stain on a handkerchief—rejection offers none; what was true before is true after. Nothing happens, no one is materially harmed, and the rejected party loses nothing but the cherished prospect of something they never had to begin with.
